Removal
Fig. 24 Power Steering Gear & Linkage Replacement:
1. Remove tie rod end ball joint cotter pin and nut, then separate tie rod end from steering knuckle using ball joint puller set tool No. 49 T028 3A0, or equivalent, Fig. 24.
2. Remove transverse member bolts and nuts, then transverse member.
3. Remove power steering return hose and pressure pipe.
4. Remove intermediate shaft bolt.
5. Support engine with suitable engine support, then remove No. 1 engine mount bolt.
6. Remove upper lateral link bolt and nut.
7. Remove lower control arm bolt from crossmember side.
8. Remove stabilizer control link.
9. Support crossmember using suitable jack and remove bolts and nuts, then slowly lower crossmember and remove stabilizer bar from crossmember. Remove steering gear and linkage.
10. Remove stabilizer and mounting bracket bolts, then steering gear and linkage.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Loosely tighten No. 4 mounting bracket bolt, then torque all mounting bracket bolts to specifications, Fig. 25.

b. Align marks and install intermediate shaft and bolt, Fig. 26. Tighten intermediate shaft bolt to specifications.
