AIR BAG SYSTEM CHANGES

APPLICABLE MODELS
1997 626 with a VIN of 1YVG1E22**V5599031 and higher.
1996 MX-6 with a VIN of 1YVGE31**T5589966 and higher.

DESCRIPTION
These vehicles are produced with a new level air bag system. The changes between the new and old level are:

1. The shorting bar is eliminated.

2. Gold plated terminals on the sensor are eliminated.

3. B+ terminals on the sensor and harness are eliminated.

SENSOR INSTALLATION NOTES:
After installing new sensor, turn the key to the "N" position.
^ The air bag warning light will illuminate for six (6) seconds.
^ The air bag warning light will go out for two (2) seconds, then the light will flash continuously. This indicates that the sensor is "learning" how to work with the system.
^ After approximately one (1) minute of the flashing cycle turn the key off then back on.
^ The air bag warning light should illuminate for approximately six (6) seconds then extinguish.
^ If the light continues to flash, refer to the BETM for further diagnostics.
