SEAT BACK HINGE RATTLING
AFFECTED MODELS
All 1995 - 96 MX-5 Miata with a VIN of JM1NA353*T0719627 and lower.
DESCRIPTION
A rattle noise may be heard from the seat back hinge. This noise may occur while operating the vehicle on roads that cause an unoccupied seat back to move side to side.
Due to a large axial clearance in the hinge assembly, the noise occurs when the hinge is moved right and left while driving.
To correct this noise, a 2 mm washer is installed during production. Customers complaining of the noise should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.
NOTE:
Service Managers should place a copy of this bulletin in the NVH manual.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE (Seat Unoccupied)
