Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
OPERATION CHECKFig. 117 Solenoid Valve:
1. Warm engine to operating temperature and run at idle.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose from solenoid valve and verify no vacuum is felt at valve.
3. If not as specified, check solenoid valve.
SOLENOID VALVE CHECK
Fig. 118 Solenoid Valve Test:
1. Disconnect vacuum hoses from valve.
2. Verify that no air can pass through valve.
3. Unplug valve connector and connect 12V and a ground to solenoid valve terminals.
4. Verify that air can now pass through valve.
5. If not as specified, replace solenoid valve.
