Thermostat: Service and Repair

1. water thermoswitch connector
2. Upper radiator Hose
3. Thermostat cover
4. Thermostat gasket
5. Thermostat

THERMOSTAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
1. Drain engine coolant from radiator assembly.
2. Disconnect radiator hose from thermostat housing, then remove housing cover retaining bolts
3. Remove thermostat, then clean gasket material from housing mating surfaces.






Installation Note Thermostat
Install the thermostat into the cylinder head with the jiggle pin at the top.

4. Install a new gasket with the seal print side facing the cylinder head.
5. Install thermostat housing, then radiator hose.
6. Fill cooling system.
7. Check system for leaks.
Steps After Installation
1. Fill the radiator with the specified amount and type of engine coolant.
2. Check for leaks.
