Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Injector R&R:

WARNING:
^ Release fuel pressure.
^ Keep sparks, cigarettes, and open flames away.

1. Remove components in order shown.
2. Install in reverse order of removal. Refer to INSTALLATION NOTES.

COMPONENTS

1. Negative battery cable.
2. Air cleaner housing.
3. Injector connector.
4. Fuel hose and fuel pipe.
5. Fuel distributor (right).
6. Fuel distributor (left).
7. Insulator.
8. Accumulated connector.
9. Spacer.
10. Injector.
11. Pressure regulator.

INSTALLATION NOTES

Injectors

Individual Injector Installation:

1. Use new O-rings
2. To aid installation, apply small amount of clean engine oil to O-rings.
3. Verify that injector holder is clean.
4. Install injectors square in distribution pipe, turning back and forth while pushing down.
5. Fit injector tap into notch in distribution pipe.
6. Tighten retainer screws to specification:

TORQUE: 22 - 31 inlb (2.5 - 3.5 Nm)

Fuel Distributor

Fuel Distributor Insulators:

Always use new insulators, carefully installed. Incorrect installation may cause rough idle due to vacuum leak.
