REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1994 626/MX6 SSP # 38A. VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Verify the VIN:

^ If the vehicle is within the above range, proceed to step 2.
^ If the vehicle is not within the above range, return the vehicle to the customer or inventory.
2. Check the vehicle for the following conditions:
^ SSP # 38 label attached to the driver's side door.
Refer to illustration.
^ The VIN has been registered in the MDCS (Warranty Vehicle History) with this campaign and shows "D" for done.
3. If the vehicle meets any of the criteria listed in step 2, the repair work has been completed. Return the vehicle to the customer or inventory.
If the vehicle does not comply with the criteria listed in Step 2, proceed to "B.

B. REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer complaint.
NOTE:
No replacement or inspection of the speedometer gear set is necessary if there are no symptoms or the customer's complaint cannot be duplicated.
2. Remove the speedometer drive gear and inspect the gear teeth for any missing, burred, or severely damaged teeth.
^ If the teeth appear normal, install the revised speedometer gear set.
^ If the teeth on the speedometer gear set are severely damaged, the drive gear on the differential will also be damaged, requiring transmission replacement. Contact the Technical Assistance Hotline for authorization if necessary.
3. Verify the repair.
Warranty extension applies only to the speedometer gear set.
C. CAMPAIGN LABEL INSTALLATION
Install campaign label (SSP # 38) on the driver's side door. Refer back to the illustration under "A. VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE".
