Idle Speed: Adjustments

PREPARATION

Fig. 2 Diagnostic Connector:

1. Warm engine to operating temperature.
2. Turn all electrical loads OFF.
3. Connect SST #49 B019 9A0 to data link connector.

NOTE: If SST is not used, install jumper wire across TEN and GND terminals of data link connector.

4. Connect timing light.
5. Connect tachometer to data link connector IG- terminal.

ADJUST IDLE SPEED

Idle Speed Adjustment:

1. Set switch A to position 1.
2. Set test switch to SELF TEST.
3. Verify that coolant fan is not running.
4. Check idle speed:

ATX: 800 - 900 rpm (neutral)
MTX: 750 - 850 rpm ("P" range)

5. If not within specification, adjust with air adjusting screw.
6. Disconnect SST or remove jumper wire.
