Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. Warm engine to operating temperature and run at idle.
2. Disconnect solenoid vacuum hose and verify no vacuum is felt at solenoid.
3. If not as specified, check operation.

OPERATION

Purge Solenoid Valve Resistance:

1. Disconnect vacuum hoses and electrical connector.
2. Blow into valve and verify no air passes through.
3. Apply battery voltage across solenoid terminals. Verify that air now flows through.
4. If not as specified, replace solenoid valve.
