Crankshaft Position Sensor 1
PURPOSECrankshaft Position Sensor 1 SGT & SGC Signals
The crankshaft position sensor 1 provides two separate signals; SGT and SGC. Each signal affects various systems via the resulting outputs of the powertrain control module engine (PCME).
- SGC signal represents No.1 and No.4 cylinder @ TDC.
- SGT signal represents crankshaft angle at 60° intervals.
CONSTRUCTION
Crankshaft Position Sensor 1
Hall element pick-up type in distributor housing.
OPERATION
Crankshaft Position Sensor 1 SGT Signal
The sensor SGT Signal affects the operation of the following PCME output systems and/or devices:
- Fuel injection quantity
- Fuel injection timing
- Fuel pump relay
- Igniter (ignition timing control)
- Self-diagnosis checker (diagnostic trouble codes)
Crankshaft Position Sensor 1 SGC Signal
The sensor SGC Signal affects the operation of the following PCME output systems and/or devices:
- Fuel injection timing
- Igniter (ignition timing control)
- Self-diagnosis checker (diagnostic trouble codes)
REMARKS
The distributor mounted crankshaft position sensor 1, is a completely separate component from the crankshaft mounted crankshaft position sensor 2.
