Temperature Gauge: Testing and Inspection

Continue checks for at least two minutes each to correctly judge condition.
1. Remove instrument cluster.
2. Apply battery voltage to terminal 2J and ground terminal 2G, Fig. 17, then connect red lead of checker 49 0839 285 to terminal 1D and ground black lead.
3. Set the checker to 15.8 ohms. Gauge should indicate Hot.
4. Set the checker to 35.2 ohms. Gauge should indicate Cold.
5. If gauge indicates correctly, repair wiring harness or replace water thermosensor.
6. If gauge does not indicate correctly, replace water temperature gauge.
