Exhaust Pressure Regulator Vacuum Valve: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Regulates quantity of vacuum that reaches EGR valve, controlling how far valve is allowed to open. Permits control of recirculated exhaust gas quantity according to engine operating conditions.

LOCATION
Bracket on intake manifold near throttle body.

OPERATION
Varying pressure between exhaust system and intake manifold is used to move a spring-loaded diaphragm that regulates vacuum reaching the EGR valve.
