Selector Shaft: Adjustments
Obtain code number from customer and deactivate audio anti-theft system before disconnecting battery.1. Disconnect battery ground cable to deactivate shift lock, then remove rear console.
2. Remove selector knob and indicator panel screws, lift up selector knob, selector sleeve and indicator panel. Do not pull selector knob up too far to prevent damaging wiring harness.

3. Loosen locknut, Fig. 6, then shift transmission to ```P'' range.

4. Adjust lever so that clearance between guide plate and guide pin in ``P'' range with pushrod lightly depressed is as shown in Fig. 7, then torque locknut to 13-18 ft. lbs.
5. Move selector lever to ``N'' and ``D'' ranges and ensure that clearance between guide plate and guide pin is the same in both ranges, Fig.7. If not, readjust lever.
6. Reverse removal procedures to install indicator panel, selector sleeve, selector knob and rear console.

7. Inspect selector lever operation, then adjust indicator panel if necessary as follows:
a. Remove rear console, then shift selector to ``P'' range.
b. Loosen indicator screws, then align alignment hole in slider with hole in indicator panel by installing a suitable heavy gauge wire to hold slider, Fig. 8.
c. Tighten indicator mounting screws in order shown in Fig. 9, then remove wire from slider and verify that selector lever properly aligns with indicator in each range.
d. Verify correct operation of emergency override button.
