Fuel Tank: Service and Repair

Fuel Tank Assembly:

1. Relieve fuel system pressure.

Fuel Pump Electrical Connector And Harness (Under Rear Seat):

^ Remove rear seat cushion and disconnect fuel pump electrical connector.
^ Start engine and let it run until it dies
^ Slowly and carefully remove fuel hose from fuel filter.

2. Drain fuel into suitable storage container.

Fuel Pump Assembly And Installation:

3. Remove access cover.
4. Disconnect fuel hoses and electrical connector from tank unit.
5. Lift rear of car and support on jackstands.
6. Disconnect fuel filler and vapor hoses from tank.
7. Remove insulator cover from bottom front of tank.
8. Support tank, remove bolts from rear of retainer straps and carefully lower tank out of car.
9. Install in reverse order.
