Fuel Delivery and Air Induction: Description and Operation

System Layout:

DESCRIPTION
This vehicle is equipped with a 2.2L, 4 cylinder, SOHC gasoline engine, and a computer controlled electronic fuel injection system. System maintains an air/fuel mixture as close as possible to ideal stoichiometric ratio, for all operating conditions. Fuel is supplied to injectors at high pressure by an in-tank electric fuel pump. The computer monitors various engine mounted sensors mounted, including an exhaust gas oxygen sensor, and uses this information to determine quantity of fuel needed. The computer energizes injectors for varying lengths of time, depending on amount of fuel required.
