1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect speedometer cable at transmission.
3. On models with automatic transmission, remove gear shift knob retaining screws, then the gear shift knob, Fig. 2.
4. On models with manual transmission, loosen gearshift locknut and remove gear shift lever knob.
5. Using a screwdriver, remove console upper plate, Fig. 3.
6. Remove ashtray retaining screws, then disconnect cigarette lighter electrical connector and remove ashtray.
7. On models with manual transmission, shift parking brake lever up.
8. Remove console bracket retaining screws, then the bracket.
9. On all models, remove rear console retaining screws, then pull console rearward and remove from vehicle.
10. Remove steering wheel horn pad, then using a steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel.
11. Remove steering column upper and lower covers.

12. Remove switch panel retaining screws, then pull switch panel outward and disconnect panel electrical connectors, Fig. 4.
13. Remove meter hood retaining screws, then the meter hood, Fig. 5.
14. Remove meter assembly retaining screws, then pull meter assembly outward and disconnect meter electrical connectors and speedometer cable.
15. Remove left and right air duct retaining clips, then the ducts.
16. Remove center lower panel retaining screws, then the lower panel.
17. Remove hood release knob.
18. On models with automatic transmission, remove parking brake release knob.
19. On vehicles with manual transmission, remove nut from parking brake release cable.
20. On all models, remove glove box and disconnect lamp connector.
21. Remove air conditioner control panel, then disconnect connectors.
22. Remove front header trim, then remove left and right side trim.
23. Remove center cap and instrument panel installation bolt.
24. Remove side panel, then the instrument panel installation bolts. Remove instrument panel installation bolts at center bracket.
25. Remove steering shaft installation bolts.
26. Disconnect remaining connectors, then remove dash panel.
27. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque center installation bolt to 3-4 ft.lbs.
b. Torque remaining installation bolts to 7-10 ft.lbs.
c. Torque steering wheel nut to 29-36 ft.lbs.
