Rear

NOTE: Replace right and left brake pads at the same time. Do not replace one side only.

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Remove tire and wheel assemblies.
3. On 1989 models, remove parking brake cable and bracket.
4. On 1990-93 models, remove parking brake cable.
5. Remove screw plug from manual adjustment gear.
6. On all models, remove lower mounting bolt, then pivot caliper upward.
7. Remove spring, pads and shims.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. On 1989 models, using piston holding tool No. 49FA18602 or equivalent, turn piston clockwise until fully bottomed.
b. On 1990-93 models, using allen wrench turn manual adjustment gear counterclockwise until it stops.
c. After pads are installed, turn manual adjustment gear clockwise until brake pads just touch disc. Back off adjustment gear 1/3 turn.
