EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

The EGR Solenoid Valve, located on the firewall near vehicle center, is an ECU controlled component of the EGR system. By regulating valve operation, the ECU controls vacuum to the EGR modulator and EGR control valve, ensuring reduced emissions while maintaining good driveability over a wide range of conditions.

To calculate its control of the EGR solenoid valve, the ECU calculates inputs from:

Ignition coil
Throttle sensor
Water thermosensor
Inhibitor switch (A/T)
