Fig. 21 Disassembled View Of Power Steering Gear:
1. Drain steering gear oil and secure steering gear and linkage in suitable vise.
2. Remove oil pipes and solenoid valve, Fig. 21.
3. Scribe alignment marks on tie rod ends and tie rods, then remove tie rod ends and the locknuts.
4. Remove spring clips, boot wires and boots.
5. Uncrimp washers and remove tie rods from rack.
6. Loosen locknut and remove adjust cover, spring and pressure pad.
7. Protect outer box with cloth and remove it with a pipe wrench, then remove oil seal with a screwdriver.
8. Remove mounting brackets and bushings.
