Relief Solenoid Valve

Fig. 1 Connecting tachometer.:





1. Check vacuum signal as follows:
a. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and run at idle.
b. Connect tachometer to engine Fig 1.

c. Disconnect vacuum hose between relief solenoid valve and air control valve at relief solenoid valve.
d. Place finger over port opening and increase engine speed to above 1500 RPM.
e. Disconnect electrical connector at throttle sensor and ensure air is sucked into port for approximately 120 seconds,Fig 2, then stops.

f. Decrease engine speed to idle and ensure air is sucked into port opening for 8 seconds Fig 3.

g. Reconnect throttle sensor connector Fig 35.
h. Increase engine speed and ensure air is not sucked into port when engine speed is greater than 3400---3600 RPM.
i. Disconnect electrical connector at heat hazard sensor and connect jumper wire to terminals in connector.
j. Ensure air is not sucked into port at any engine speed.

k. Disconnect jumper wire and reconnect heat hazard sensor Fig 7.
l. Stop engine and disconnect water temperature switch electrical connector at radiator.
m. Start engine, gradually increase engine speed and ensure air is not sucked into port when engine speed is greater than 1000-1200 RPM.
