DTC 12
1. Check connections of trailing side coil with igniter electrical connectors, repairing or replacing as necessary.
2. If connections are satisfactory, check for battery voltage at BW terminal of coil with igniter (trailing side) connector.
3. If battery voltage is not available, check for open circuit in wiring harness from main relay to coil with igniter.
4. If there is battery voltage, check operation of coil with igniter. Refer to ``Ignition Systems'' section.
5. If operation is unsatisfactory, replace coil with igniter.
6. If operation is satisfactory, check voltage at ``M'' terminal on 1986 models, or ``1M'' terminal on 1987-88 models, of control unit at idle.
7. If voltage is within specifications, EGI control unit is defective.
8. If voltage is not within specifications, check for continuity between coil with igniter terminal ``IG'' and control unit terminal ``M'' on 1986 models, or terminal ``1M'' on 1987-88 models.
9. If there is no continuity, coil with igniter is defective.
10. If there is continuity, EGI control unit is defective.
