Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect fuel hose from fuel filter. Allow engine to cool before disconnecting fuel hose and cover hose with rag as fuel will be splashed out when disconnecting hose.
3. Connect fuel pressure gauge to fuel filter.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
5. Connect terminals of fuel pump check connector with jumper wire, Fig. 33.
6. Turn ignition switch on and measure fuel pressure. If pressure is not 64-85 psi, check fuel pump, circuit opening relay and the main fuse.
7. Remove rear seat and disconnect fuel pump electrical connector.
8. Measure resistance between terminals A and B. If resistance is not approximately .3 ohms, replace fuel pump.
