Fig. 33 Dash Pot Adjustment:

1. Open the throttle valve fully and push the dash pot rod with a finger, Fig. 33, and make sure the rod goes into the dash pot slowly.
2. Release the finger and make sure the rod comes out quickly.
3. Warm up the engine and run at idle.
4. Attach a tachometer to the engine.
5. Increase the engine speed to 2,500 rpm.
6. Slowly decrease the speed and make sure that the dash pot rod touches the lever at 1,900-2,000 rpm.
7. If not within specification, loosen the lock nut and adjust by turning the dash pot.
