Fig. 31 Oil pan sealing areas:
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain engine oil.
3. Remove torque stopper, then the right front wheel.
4. Remove right engine side cover.
5. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
6. Support engine with block and tackle and remove engine mount No. 3.
7. Remove engine under cover, then the oil pan attaching bolts.
8. Raise front of engine as high as possible and insert flat tipped screwdriver between oil pan and cylinder block to separate them, then remove oil pan by turning front end to left.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. If no gasket is used, apply suitable sealant to oil pan mating surface in continuous bead, rimming surface inside bolt holes with ends overlapping. After sealant is applied, oil pan must be secured within 30 minutes.
b. If gasket is used, apply suitable sealant as shown, Fig. 31.
c. Torque oil pan attaching bolts to 61-102 inch lbs. (7-12 N-m).
10. After completion of installation, fill crankcase, then start engine and check for leaks.
