Antenna: Service and Repair
Antenna Relay And Motor:
1. Remove cover under dash and glove compartment.
2. Remove air duct and blower unit.
3. Remove kick panel and disconnect antenna feed cable.
4. Remove antenna motor bracket (with motor and antenna).
Disconnect Antenna From Motor:
5. Insert a flat screw driver into connector slot at the motor and pull antenna about 0.39 in (10 mm) from motor.
Remove Rack Cable From Motor:
6. To operate motor, supply battery power to motor connector terminals "R" and "W" as shown on image. Then, lightly pull rack cable from motor housing. The motor can also be operated by turning the radio "ON."
NOTE: No further removal of the antenna assembly is required if only the motor is to be replaced.
Power Antenna Removal:
7. Remove 2 pillar screws and remove antenna assembly.
8. Place new antenna in position, reinstall mounting screws and connect feeder cable.
Antenna Rack Cable:
9. Check that teeth on rack cable are facing the motor clutch. Insert rack cable into motor and hold in position.
Insert Rack Cable:
10. To operate motor, supply battery power to motor connector terminals as shown on image. Feed rack cable into the motor while it is running. Ensure that the cable winds neatly into the motor.
NOTE: For installation, the motor can also be operated by turning the radio "OFF."
Install Antenna To Motor:
11. Push antenna into motor housing until it locks into place.
12. Install antenna motor bracket (with motor and antenna).
13. Check antenna operation. Rack cable slack can be taken up by operating the motor through several cycles. The antenna should then extend fully.
