Transfer Dust Seal Replacement





TRANSFER DUST SEAL REPLACEMENT

RH

1. Remove the middle pipe. Service and Repair

2. Remove the front pipe. Service and Repair

3. Disconnect the drive shaft from the joint shaft. Front Drive Shaft Removal/Installation

4. Remove the joint shaft. Joint Shaft Removal/Installation

5. Using the SST, remove the deflector.






6. Using the SST, remove the dust seal.






7. Mark the SST at position 18 mm {0.71 in} from the end.






8. Using the SST and a hammer, tap new dust seal.






9. Warm up the outer side surface of the new deflector using a hot air blower at 250 °C {450 °F} for 30 s.

WARNING:
- Wear gloves when handling the deflector as it may be hot. Otherwise, it could cause severe burns or serious injury.

10. Within 10 s after warming up the new deflector, install it using the SST.






11. Install the joint shaft. Joint Shaft Removal/Installation

12. Install the drive shaft to the joint shaft. Front Drive Shaft Removal/Installation

13. Install the front pipe. Service and Repair

14. Install the middle pipe. Service and Repair

15. Inspect for leakage of transfer oil.

1. Remove the transfer. Service and Repair

2. Remove the dust seal using a screwdriver.






3. Install the new dust seal.






4. Install the transfer. Service and Repair

5. Inspect for leakage of transfer oil.
