Power Transfer Unit (PTU) - Removal




POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) - REMOVAL









Removal

All vehicles

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.

2. Drain the power transfer unit (PTU). See - Service and Repair.

3. Remove the front RH intermediate shaft. See Intermediate Shaft Removal/Installation.

4. Remove the driveshaft. See Removal and Replacement.





5. Remove the 4 bolts and the crossmember brace.

Vehicles equipped with 3.0L engines

1. Remove the catalytic converter manifold. See - .

All vehicles

1. Remove the 3 PTU heat shield bolts and the PTU heat shield.

Vehicles equipped with 2.5L and Hybrid

1. Remove the 2 exhaust bracket nuts.

Hybrid vehicles

1. Remove the 2 bolts and the exhaust bracket.

All vehicles

1. Remove the 6 PTU-to-engine bracket bolts and the bracket.

2. Disconnect the PTU vent tube and position it aside.

3. Remove the 4 PTU-to-transaxle bolts.

4. Remove the PTU.
