Power Transfer Unit (PTU) - Installation




POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) - INSTALLATION









Installation

All vehicles

NOTE:If necessary, install a new RH differential fluid seal. See - Transaxle Assembly or -- .
1. Position the power transfer unit (PTU) to the transaxle.

2. Install the 3 PTU-to-transaxle bolts.

- Tighten to 70 Nm {7.1 kgf-m, 52 ft-lbf}.

3. Install the PTU-to-transaxle bolt (M10).

- Tighten to 47 Nm {4.8 kgf-m, 35 ft-lbf}.

4. Connect the PTU vent tube.

5. Install the PTU-to-engine bracket and the 6 bracket bolts.

- Tighten to 48 Nm {4.9 kgf-m, 35 ft-lbf}.

Hybrid vehicles

1. Install the exhaust bracket and bolts.

- Tighten to 25 Nm {2.5 kgf-m, 18 ft-lbf}.

Vehicles equipped with 2.5L engines and Hybrid

1. Install the exhaust bracket nuts.

- Tighten to 36 Nm {3.7 kgf-m, 27 ft-lbf}.

All vehicles

1. Install the PTU heat shield and the 3 PTU heat shield bolts.

- Tighten to 11 Nm {1.1 kgf-m, 97 in-lbf}.

Vehicles equipped with 3.0L engines

1. Install the RH manifold catalytic converter. See -

1. Install the crossmember brace and the 4 bolts.

- Tighten to 40 Nm {4.1 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf}.

2. Install the driveshaft. See Removal and Replacement.

3. Install the front RH intermediate shaft. See Intermediate Shaft Removal/Installation.

4. Install the exhaust as required. See - Description and Operation.

5. Fill the PTU. See - Service and Repair.

6. Check the transaxle fluid level. See - Transaxle Installation.
