Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair

PARKING BRAKE CONTROL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION









1. Remove the front driver side door scuff plate and kick panel. See Service and Repair.

2. Release the parking brake cable tension. See Procedures.

3. Remove the parking brake release handle bolt.

- To install, tighten to 10 Nm {1.0 kgf-m, 89 in-lbf}.

4. Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector and detach harness pin-type retainer from the parking brake control cover.

5. Remove the 2 parking brake control bolts.

- To install, tighten to 27 Nm {2.7 kgf-m, 20 ft-lbf}.

6. Remove the 2 parking brake control nuts.

- To install, tighten to 27 Nm {2.7 kgf-m, 20 ft-lbf}.

7. Remove the parking brake control.

- Disconnect the front parking brake cable.

8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:Make sure that the cable is in the groove on the control wheel prior to final tightening of fasteners.
