Power Take Off Unit Draining and Filling

POWER TAKE OFF UNIT DRAINING AND FILLING

Caution:
^ New power take off (PTO) unit lubricant must be installed any time the power take off (PTO) unit has been submerged in water.

Note:
^ The power take off (PTO) unit is lubricated for life and is not to be checked unless a leak is suspected or a repair is necessary.

1. Remove the drain plug and drain the power take off (PTO) unit.





2. Apply sealant to the drain plug threads and install the plug.

Caution:
^ Power take off (PTO) unit failure can result if the correct fill procedures are not followed.

Note:
^ The fluid level must be even with the bottom of the filler hole.

3. Remove the fill plug and fill the power take off (PTO) unit with SAE 75W-140 synthetic gear lubricant.





4. Apply sealant to the fill plug and install the plug.
