Disassembly (25 - 48)

TRANSAXLE-4x4








Disassembly





26. Remove the two bolts and the interlock housing.





27. Remove the two interlock pins.





28. Raise the third/fourth gear shift rod and remove the interlock pin.





29. Remove the reverse idler shaft lock bolt.





30. Remove the 15 transaxle case bolts and separate the transaxle case.





31. Remove the magnet.





32. Remove the reverse idler gear and shaft.
1. Remove the reverse idler gear shaft.
2. Remove the reverse idler gear.





33. Remove the bolt and the reverse detent spring.





34. Remove the reverse detent ball.





35. Remove the bolts and the reverse detent lever set.





36. Remove the reverse shift lever bolt and the fifth/reverse gear shift rod.





37. Remove and discard the third/fourth gear roll pin.





38. Remove the third/fourth gear shift control and third/fourth gear shift fork and the reverse idler gear lever fork.





39. Remove and discard the first/second gear roll pin.





40. Remove the first/second gear shift rod and the first/second gear shift fork.





41. Remove the output and input shafts as an assembly.





42. Remove the differential.

^ Flywheel housing side shown, transaxle case side similar.

43. Remove the input shaft bearing cups.





44. Using the special tools or equivalents, remove the input shaft seal.





Note:
^ Flywheel housing side shown, transaxle case side similar.

45. Remove the output shaft bearing cups.





46. Remove the funnel.





Note:
^ Flywheel housing side shown, transaxle case side similar.

47. Using the special tools or equivalents, remove the differential bearing cups.





Note:
^ Transaxle case side shown, flywheel housing side similar.

48. Using the special tools or equivalents, remove the halfshaft seals.
