Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATIONRemoval and Installation
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the bolts and the shield.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Disconnect the tube.
- Detach the mass airflow (MAF) sensor wiring pushpin.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the pipe.
4. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve and the throttle position sensor (TPS) electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the accelerator and cruise control cables.
1. Detach the accelerator and cruise control cables from the throttle body.
2. Detach the accelerator and cruise control cables from the bracket, and position the cables aside.
6. Disconnect the hose.
7. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
CAUTION: It Is important to twist the spark plug wire boots while pulling upward to avoid possible damage to the spark plug wire.
NOTE: Spark plug wires must be connected to the correct ignition coil terminal. Mark spark plug wire locations before removing them.
8. Disconnect the RH spark plug wires from coil. Remove spark plug wire routing clip pushpin and position the wires aside.
9. Remove wiring harness bracket retainer, then position wiring harness aside.
10. Remove accelerator cable routing retainer clip and wiring harness pushpin.
11. Remove the bolts.
12. Remove the bolt and position the coil and bracket aside.
13. Disconnect the vacuum hoses.
14. Remove the nut.
15. Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connector.
16. Disconnect the ground wires and position the wiring harness aside.
17. Detach the electrical connector retainer.
18. Remove the intake manifold bolts and lift up the intake manifold.
19. Remove the heated PCV hose retainers and remove the heated PCV fitting.
20. Remove the intake manifold.
21. Clean all the sealing surfaces.
22. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
