DISASSEMBLYDisassembly Note
1. Disconnect the spark plug wires.
2. Disconnect the vacuum line.
3. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from:
- the ignition coil
- the radio ignition interference capacitor
- the EGR solenoid
- the vacuum line from the EGR solenoid
4. Remove the nuts.
5. Remove the bolts and the generator mounting bracket.
6. Remove the two bolts.
7. Remove the bolts and the A/C compressor mounting bracket.
8. Remove the bolts and the water pump pulley.
9. Remove the bolts and the crankshaft pulley.
10. Remove the crankshaft damper bolt.
11. Using a crankshaft damper remover T58P-6316-D or equivalent, remove the crankshaft damper.
12. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from:
- The idle air control valve.
- The throttle position sensor.
- The DPFE sensor.
13. Remove the six bolts.
14. Remove the upper intake manifold.
15. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve.
16. Remove the intake manifold upper gasket.
17. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from:
- The engine coolant temperature sensor.
- The water temperature indicator sender unit.
- The fuel injectors.
- The camshaft synchronizer.
18. Remove the valve covers.
19. Remove the valve cover gaskets.
20. Clean the sealing surfaces.
21. Remove the rocker arms and the push rods.
22. Remove the lower intake manifold.
1) Remove the bolts.
2) Remove the lower intake manifold.
23. Remove the intake manifold gaskets.
24. Clean the surface.
25. Remove the camshaft synchronizer.
26. Remove the bolts.
27. Remove the oil pan.
28. Remove the oil pan gasket.
29. Clean the surfaces.
30. Remove the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
31. Remove the front cover bolts.
32. Remove the engine front cover and the engine front cover gasket.
33. Clean the sealing surfaces.
34. Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.
35. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
36. Remove the oil bypass filter.
37. Remove the bolts.
38. Remove the cylinder heads.
39. Remove the head gaskets.
