Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

FUEL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Removal Note

1. Remove the fuel tank. See FUEL TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
2. Clean the area around the fuel pump mounting flange.




3. Using the special tool, remove the fuel tank sending unit assembly locking retainer ring (1).

CAUTION: The fuel pump must be handled carefully to avoid damage to the float arm and filter.

4. Remove the fuel pump assembly.
5. Remove and discard the fuel pump mounting gasket.

Installation Note

1. Clean the fuel pump mounting flange and the fuel tank mounting surface.
2. Install the fuel pump mounting gasket.




3. Using the special tool, tighten the fuel pump assembly locking retainer ring.
4. Install the fuel tank. See FUEL TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
