Removal
Removal1. Place the transaxle range select or lever in NEUTRAL.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
Note: Mark the driveshaft relative to the companion flange.
3. Remove the driveshaft.
4. Remove the drive axle intermediate shaft.
5. Remove the exhaust cross over pipe.
6. Remove the RH exhaust manifold.
7. Remove the heat shield.
1 Remove the three bolts.
8. Remove the six bolts and the bracket.
9. Remove the four bolts and the crossmember brace.
10. Remove the bolts.
11. Disconnect the power take off (PTO) unit vent hose from the vent tube.
1 Plug the vent tube to prevent hypoid gear lubricant leak.
Caution: A new power take off (PTO) unit driven gear seal must be installed anytime the power take off (PTO) unit is removed.
12. Remove the bolt and the power take off (PTO) unit.
