Engine Controls - Cold Engine Start Idle Dip

2001 B4000 COLD START IDLE DIP

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs:
All 2001 B4000 with automatic transmission built prior to 11/27/00.

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit a cold start idle dip when the automatic transmission is in PARK or NEUTRAL gears. This concern may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibration.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.





2. Reprogram the PCM to the latest level calibration (shown) using WDS if normal diagnostic procedures do not pinpoint condition.

NOTE:
Install an Authorized Modification Label on recalibrated PCM and enter the date, dealer code, and a summary of modifications performed including this Service Bulletin's number.

3. Verify repair.
