Cylinder Head Disassembly and Assembly
DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLYDisassembly Note
1. Using valve spring compressor T74P-6565-A or equivalent and valve spring compressor bar T74P-6565-B or equivalent, remove the valve spring retainer key.
NOTE: All of the valve components must be marked and replaced in their original location.
2. Remove the valve spring retainer.
3. Remove the valve spring.
4. Remove the valve stem seal.
5. Remove the valve.
NOTE: Repeat the above procedure for each valve.
6. Inspect the valves and the valve spring; refer to Valve Inspection or Valve Spring Inspection.
7. Inspect the valve guide and the valve seat; refer to Valve Guide Inspection or Valve Seat Inspection.
Assembly Note
1. Install the valve.
NOTE: The valve stem must be lubricated before installation. Use SAE 50 engine oil.
2. Using valve stem seal replacer SST 49 L012 001, install the valve stem seal.
3. Install the valve spring.
4. Install the valve spring retainer.
5. Using valve spring compressor T74P-6565-A or equivalent and valve spring compressor bar T74P-6565-B or equivalent, install the valve spring retainer key.
6. Inspect the valve spring installed height; refer to Valve Spring Inspection.
NOTE: Repeat the above procedure for each valve.
