Lower Intake Manifold

LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold.
3. Remove both the valve covers and valve cover gaskets.
4. Disconnect the fuel line.
5. Remove the thermostat.





6. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.





7. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor and the water temperature indicator sender unit connectors.





8. Remove the bolts and lower intake manifold.





9. Remove the lower intake manifold gaskets.
10. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Lower Intake Manifold Installation Note





1. Clean the sealing surfaces.





2. Apply a bead of silicone rubber in four places.
3. Install the lower intake manifold gasket.

Lower Intake Manifold Bolt Installation Note





1. Using the guide pins, install the intake manifold. Tighten the bolts in sequence in four steps.
Tightening torque 3 Nm (0.3 kgf-m, 27 inch lbs.)
Tightening torque
Tighten to 10 Nm (1.0 kgf-m, 89 inch lbs.)
Tightening torque
Tighten to 13 Nm (1.3 kgf.m, 10 ft. lbs.)
Tightening torque
Tighten to 16 Nm (1.6 kgf-m, 12 ft. lbs.)
