Removal and Installation

CAUTION: To prevent refrigerant system contamination, if you are replacing an A/C compressor which has failed internally, you must perform the following procedures:
- Perform the Refrigerant System Filtering after A/C compressor replacement general procedure.
- Replace the receiver/drier.
- Replace the evaporator core orifice.

1. Recover the refrigerant.




2. Reposition the air intake duct.
1. Loosen the clamp.
2. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube.
3. Reposition the air intake duct.

3. Remove the drive belt.




4. Disconnect the electrical connector.




5. Remove the clamp nut on the A/C manifold and tube.




6. Remove the manifold retaining bolt.




7. Remove the bolts and the A/C compressor.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
1. Service the replacement A/C compressor with the proper amount of refrigerant oil; refer to REFRIGERANT OIL ADDITION.
2. Lubricate the O-ring seals with refrigerant oil.
3. Apply pipe sealant to the threads of the A/C manifold retaining bolt.
