APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
All 2000-01 B-Series.

DESCRIPTION

"Belt minder" is a feature that is supplemental to the seat belt warning function. This feature provides additional reminders to the driver that the driver's seat belt is unbuckled by intermittently sounding a chime and illuminating the seat belt warning light on the instrument cluster.

Some customers may wish to have the belt minder feature disabled or enabled. This can be done by performing one of the following procedures.

DISABLING / ENABLING PROCEDURES

ONE TIME BELT MINDER DISABLING

Anytime the seat belt is buckled and then re-buckled during an ignition ON cycle, the belt minder feature will be disabled for only that ignition cycle.

DISABLING / ENABLING THE BELT MINDER FEATURE WITHOUT USING WDS

First confirm these items below before using the following STEPS 1-7 to disable or enable the belt minder feature:

^ Parking brake is set.

^ Automatic transmission is in PARK / manual transmission is in neutral.

^ Ignition switch is in OFF position.

Note:
STEPS 3-5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated.

3. Buckle then unbuckle the seat belt three (3) times ending with the seat belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during belt minder warning activation.

4. Turn ON the park lamps/headlamps, turn OFF park lamps/headlamps.

5. Buckle then unbuckle the seat belt three (3) times, ending with the seat belt unbuckled.

Note:
After STEP 5, the seat belt warning light will be ON for 3 seconds.

6. Within 7 seconds of the seat belt warning light turning OFF, buckle then unbuckle the seat belt.

Note:
STEP 6 will disable the belt minder if it is currently enabled, or enabled the belt minder if it is currently disabled.

7. Confirm the belt minder feature is enabled/disabled.

^ To confirm the feature is disabled, the belt warning light will flash 4 times/second for 3 seconds.

^ To confirm the feature is enabled, the belt warning light will flash 4 times/second for 3 seconds followed by the light being OFF for 3 seconds, then followed by the light flashing again 4 times/second for 3 seconds.

TO DISABLE / ENABLE THE BELT MINDER USING WDS TOOL

1. Establish a session for the vehicle.

2. Select the "TOOLBOX" icon.

3. Select "MODULE PROGRAMMING" and press the "TICK" mark.

Note:
If the driver's seat belt is not buckled before the vehicle has reached at least 5 km/h (3 MPH) and 1-2 minutes has elapsed since the ignition switch has been turned ON, the belt minder will illuminate the seat belt warning light. Also, the seat belt warning chime will sound for 6 seconds every 30 seconds, repeating for approximately 5 minutes or until the seat belt is buckled.

When the belt minder is disabled, the seat belt warning light and chime will continue to operate normally. The seat belt warning light will remain illuminated for 1-2 minutes and the warning chime will sound for 4-8 seconds.
