Cylinder Head Disassembly/Assembly
CYLINDER HEAD DISASSEMBLY/ ASSEMBLYDisassembly Note
1. Remove the RH engine lifting eye.
2. Remove the exhaust manifold and the exhaust manifold gasket.
3. Remove the LH engine lifting eye.
4. Remove the intake mar fold and the intake manifold gasket.
5. Remove the oil pressure sensor.
Caution
^ The rocker arms are positional. Mark the rocker arms that are being reused for Installation in the original location.
6. Remove the rocker arms using the Valve Spring Compressor.
Caution
^ The valve tappets are positional. Mark the valve tappets that are being reused for installation in the original location.
7. Remove the valve tappets.
8. Remove the valve spring retainer keys using the Valve Spring Compressor.
9. Remove the valve spring retainers.
10. Remove the valve springs.
11. Remove the valve stem seals.
12. Remove the valves.
13. Remove the camshaft retainer.
14. Remove the camshaft.
15. Remove the camshaft seal.
16. If required, remove the camshaft center bearings.
Assembly Note
1. If required, install the camshaft bearings.
2. Using a Front Camshaft Front Seal Replacer T94P-6256-BH or equivalent, install the camshaft seal.
Note
^ Coat the seal inner surfaces with clean engine oil.
3. Install the camshaft.
Note
^ Coat the camshaft bearings with clean engine oil.
4. Install the camshaft retainer.
5. Install the valves.
6. Using a Valve Stem Seal Replacer 49 UNO1 134, install the valve stem seals.
7. Install the valve springs.
8. Install the valve spring retainers.
9. Using a Valve Spring Compressor 49 UNO1 135 or equivalent, install the valve spring retainer keys.
Caution
^ The valve tappets must be installed In their original locations.
10. Install the valve tappets.
Caution
^ The rocker arms must be installed In their original location.
11. Install the rocker arms using the Valve Spring Compressor.
12. Install the oil pressure sensor.
13. Install the intake manifold.
(1). Position the intake manifold gasket.
(2). Position the intake manifold.
(3). Install the bolts.
(4). Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in two steps.
^ Tighten to 7-10 Nm (71 - 102 kgf.cm, 62 - 88 inch lbs.).
^ Tighten to 26 - 38 Nm (2.7 - 2.9 kgf.m, 20 - 28 ft.lbs.).
14. Install the LH engine lifting eye.
15. Install the exhaust manifold.
(1). Position the exhaust manifold gasket.
(2). Position the exhaust manifold.
(3). Install the bolts.
(4). Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in two steps.
^ Tighten to 20 - 30 Nm (2.0 - 3.1 kgf.m, 15 - 16 ft.lbs.).
^ Tighten to 60 - 80 Nm (6.1 - 8.2 kgf.m, 45 - 59 ft.lbs.).
16. Install the RH engine lifting eye.
