Upper Intake Manifold

UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.





2. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor.





3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.





4. Remove the accelerator control splash shield.





5. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor and the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connectors.





6. Disconnect the accelerator cable and cruise control (if equipped).





7. Remove the accelerator cable bracket.





8. Disconnect the crankcase vent hose from the valve cover.





9. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the intake manifold vacuum tee.





10. Disconnect the heater hose from the intake manifold and from the heater line on the vehicle.
11. Disconnect the EGR tube at the EGR valve and loosen the fitting on the exhaust manifold.





12. Remove the EGR valve.





13. Remove the upper intake manifold.
1. Remove the seven bolts.
2. Remove the intake manifold.
3. Discard the gasket.
14. Install in reverse order of removal.

Upper Intake Manifold Bolt Installation Note
1. Position the lower intake manifold gasket and the upper intake manifold.





2. Tighten the bolts in sequence in two stages.
^ Stage 1:
Tightening torque: 7 - 10 Nm (71 - 102 kgf.cm, 62 - 88 inch lbs.)
^ Stage 2:
Tightening torque: 26 - 38 Nm (2.7 - 3.9 kgf.m, 20 - 28 ft. lbs.)
