Lower Intake Manifold
LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL/INSTALLATIONWarning: Fuel pressure remains in the fuel system after the engine is shut off.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
Remove the bolt.
4. Remove the upper intake manifold.
5. Remove the A/C compressor.
6. Remove the A/C compressor bracket.
7. Remove the dash panel ground cable from the intake manifold stud.
8. Disconnect the 42-pin wiring connector from the retainer on the lower intake manifold.
9. Disconnect the spring lock coupling.
10. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors.
11. Remove the engine lifting eye.
^ Remove 1 bolt and 1 nut.
^ Remove the engine lifting eye.
12. Remove the lower intake manifold.
^ Remove the eight bolts.
^ Remove the manifold.
^ Discard the gasket.
13. Install in reverse order of removal.
Lower Intake Manifold Bolt Installation Note
1. Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts in two stages and in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1:
Tightening torque: 7 - 10 Nm (71 - 102 kgf.cm, 62 - 88 inch lbs.)
^ Stage 2:
Tightening torque: 26 - 38 Nm (2.7 - 3.9 kgf.m, 20 - 28 ft. lbs.)
