DP - Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

Enter this Pinpoint Test only when service code 29 is received during Quick Test or when directed here from Pinpoint Test TC.

This Pinpoint Test is only intended to diagnose the following:

1. VSS harness circuits.
2. Vehicle speed sensor.
3. ECA computer processor.

VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR DRIVE CYCLE

1. Record and clear Continuous Memory Codes.
2. Warm engine to operating temperature.
3. Perform drive cycle appropriate to vehicle being tested:

Automatic Transmission
Place gear selector in "LOW" and accelerate heavily to 35 mph. Coast down to an idle, stop vehicle and shut engine off.

Manual Transmission
Start in first gear, shift into second and moderately accelerate to 40 mph. Coast down to an idle, stop vehicle and shut engine off.

4. Run KOEO Self-Test and record Continuous Memory Codes.
