Flow of Diagnosis
Flow Of Diagnosis:
1. Utilize the VEHICLE REPAIR HISTORY and DRIVEABILITY WORKSHEETS in this section to provide better communication between customer and technician. Verifying complaints provides for more accurate and timely vehicle diagnosis/repair.
2. Check any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply to the vehicle being serviced. These bulletins may contain important information regarding warranty, recalls, revised service procedures, etc.
3. Perform a thorough visual inspection. Check for loose connections, damaged wires, hoses and electronic components, etc. Problems can frequently be located if this step is carefully carried out.
4. The On-Board Diagnostics (EEC Quick Test under TESTING PROCEDURES) will verify that ECU sensors and circuits are functioning properly or display any trouble codes that may be stored in computer memory. The EEC Quick Test is the first step in diagnosing computerized engine control problems and directs the technician to appropriate EEC Pinpoint Test Procedures under DIAGNOSTIC CHARTS.
