FRONT AXLE IDENTIFICATION TAGS

DESCRIPTION

The 1992 Navajo provides "Axle Identification" information only on the rear face of the front axle on the passenger side. Front axle identification tags provide infoffnation such as build dates, gear ratio, part numbers, etc. This information is essential when replacement parts are necessary. The 1991 Navajos provide this information in three (3) areas:

1. On a metal tag attached to a carrier cover mounting bolt.

2. Stamped into the left side axle arm (tube) front face (inboard of the U-joint).

3. On a paper tape tag wrapped around the axle arm (tube).

The 1992 Navajos use a glue-on label that replaces all three (3) of the 1991 markings (see Figure 1). The new label is on the rear face of the right hand arm (tube).

NOTE:
Since the glue-on label is the only identification, be sure that the information is recorded in a retrievable place before any service action is taken which will damage, destroy, or remove the label.
