EDIS Schematic and Breakout Box Overlay Acronyms
EDIS Wiring Schematic:
EDIS ACRONYMS
PIP: Profile Ignition Pickup (EDIS output signal)
IDM: Ignition Diagnostic Monitor (diagnostic signal to EEC).
SAW: Spark Angle Word (EEC spark control signal).
IGND: Ignition Ground (low current ground reference).
VRS-: Variable Reluctance Sensor negative.
VRS+: Variable Reluctance Sensor positive.
VRS Shield: Variable Reluctance Sensor shield.
BAT+: Battery positive.
GND or BAT-: Battery negative.
VBAT: Ignition power to component.
C1,C2,C3: Coil drive for coils 1, 2 and 3.
KOEO: Key "ON" Engine "OFF."
KOEC: Key "ON" Engine Cranking.
HEGO: Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.
OVERLAY DESIGNATORS
Signals on the schematic and overlays are identified along with a suffix letter designating where the measurement is being taken:
PREFIX "J": Breakout box jack.
SUFFIX "E": At the EDIS module.
SUFFIX "S": At the sensor.
SUFFIX "C": At the coil.
For example, "VBAT C" means VBAT at the coil and "VBAT E" means VBAT at the EDIS module.
