Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL):
^ The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is located in the instrument panel.
^ If the ECU detects a monitored device malfunction, the MIL will stay "ON" with the engine running and self-diagnosis check (test) connector not grounded.
^ If the connector is grounded, the MIL will flash malfunction codes corresponding to the defective input/output devices and/or their circuits.
^ If there is more than one failure present, the lowest number malfunction code is displayed first, followed by remaining codes in numerical order.
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL):
^ There is a mileage sensor to illuminate the MIL at oxygen sensor replacement time. Every 80,000 miles (Federal) or 128,000 km (Canada), the mileage sensor closes the MIL circuit by the movement of a cam linked with the odometer.
