Rear Cooler Blower Motor Does Not Operate
Rear Cooler Blower Motor Does Not OperateNote: If the blower fan (front) also does not operate, Refer "Blower Motor Does Not Operate,". Blower Motor Does Not Operate
Circuit Diagram
Normal operation of rear cooler blower motor
When the A/C switch and front blower switches are ON, rear blower motor operation becomes possible. When the A/C switch, front blower switch, and rear cooler main switches are ON, the rear blower motor receives power through relay No.1. When the rear blower switch is ON the ground circuit is completed and the motor operates.
Motor speed control is the same as for the front blower except that there are only three resistors.
Step 1
1. Check the fuses.
2. If a fuse is burned, check for a short circuit in the wiring harness before replacing it.
3. If the fuses are OK, go to Step 2.
Step 2 A/C switch test
1. Remove the A/C switch.
. Check continuity between terminal of the switch as shown.
3. If not as specified, replace the A/C switch.
4. If correct, go to Step 3.
Step 3
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Turn the blower switch (front) to the first position.
3. Turn the A/C switch ON.
4. Measure the voltage at terminal-wire (G) of the A/C switch connector.
Step 4 Rear cooler main switch test
1. Remove the rear cooler main switch.
2. Check continuity between terminals of the rear cooler main switch connector as shown.
3. If not as specified, replace the rear cooler main switch.
4. If correct, go to Step 5.
Step 5
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Turn the blower switch (front) to the first position.
3. Turn the A/C switch ON.
4. Turn the rear cooler main switch ON.
5. Measure the voltage at terminal-wire (B/L) of the rear cooler main switch connector.
Step 6 Rear cooler blower switch test
1. Remove the rear cooler blower switch.
2. Check continuity between terminals of the rear cooler blower switch connector as shown.
3. If not as specified, replace the rear cooler blower switch.
4. If correct, go to Step 7.
Step 7
1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
2. Turn the A/C switch and rear cooler main switch ON.
3. Turn the rear cooler blower switch to the first position.
4. Measure the voltage at the following terminals of the rear cooling unit connector.
Step 8
1. Disconnect the rear cooler blower motor connector.
2. Apply battery voltage to terminal a and ground terminal b.
3. Check whether the blower motor operates.
Step 9 Rear cooler relay No.1 test
1. Remove the rear cooler relay No.1.
2. Check continuity between terminals 3 and 4.
3. If not as specified, replace the relay.
4. If correct, go to Step 9-5.
5. Apply battery voltage to terminal 1 and ground terminal 2.
6. Check for continuity between terminals 3 and 4.
7. If not as specified, replace the relay.
8. If correct, go to Step 10.
Step 10 Rear cooling unit resistor assembly test
1. Disconnect the rear cooling unit resistor assembly connector.
2. Check for continuity between terminals of the resistor assembly.
Note: Set the ohmmeter to X 1,000 range.
3. If not as specified, replace the resistor assembly.
4. If correct, repair or replace the rear cooling unit wiring harness assembly.
