OIL PUMP
Preparation SST
Removal / Installation
JE Engine
A. Remove the engine. (Refer to Engine, Service and Repair). Service and Repair
B. Remove in the order shown in the figure, referring to Removal Note.
C. Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to Installation Note.
1. Timing belt (Refer to Timing Components). Timing Components
2. Timing belt pulley
3. Thermostat assembly
4. Oil pan
5. Oil strainer
6. Oil pump
Removal Note
Crankshaft pulley lock bolt.
Hold the crankshaft pulley with the SST and remove the lock bolt.

G6 Engine
A. Remove the engine. (Refer to Engine, Service and Repair). Service and Repair
B. Remove the oil pump, referring to TIMING CHAIN, SERVICE AND
REPAIR. Service and Repair
Disaaaembly G6 Engine
1. Pump cover
2. Outer rotor
3. Inner rotor
4. Pressure relief valve
5. Oil seal
6. Oil pump body
Disassembly JE Engine
1. Pump cover
2. Outer Rotor
3. Inner rotor
4. Pressure relief valve
5. Oil seal
6. Oil pump body
Inspection
1. Check the following and replace any faulty parts.
(a) Distorted or damaged oil pump body or cover
(b) Worn or damaged plunger
(c) Weak or broken plunger spring
Free length: 46.4mm {1.827 in}.
2. Measure the following clearances
Side clearance:
JE O.l3mm {O.0051 in)} max.
G6 O.lOmm {0.0039 in)} max.
Tooth tip clearance:
JE 0.24mm {0.0094 in)} max.
G6 0.l8mm {0.0071 in)} max.
Outer rotor to pump body:
JE 0.23mm {0.0091 In} max.
G6 0.2Omm {0.0079 In} max.
Assembly
Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly, referring to the Assembly Note.
Assembly Note
Oil seal
1. Apply engine oil to the pump body and the outside of the new oil seal.
2. Press in the oil seal using a suitable pipe.
Installation
Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to Installation Note.
Installation Note
Crankshaft pulley lock bolt.
Install the crankshaft lock bolt with the SST.
Tightening torque: 157-166 N.m 16.0-17.0 kgf.m, 116-122 ft.lbf}
Steps After Installation
1. Add engine oil and coolant to the specified levels.
2. Connect the negative battery cable.
3. Start the engine and do the following:
(a) Check for leakage of engine oil or coolant.
(b) Perform engine adjustment if necessary.
(c) Recheck the oil and coolant levels.
